Former Celtic defender Ramon Vega has tore into the Swiss setup and Celtic striker Albian Ajeti for the frontman’s inclusion in the national team squad.

Vega keeps up to date with Celtic and has watched Albian get a run of games lately, the same run of games that’s likely got him recalled to his national side.

The former Hoops defender can’t believe Albian has managed to get a call-up because he has shown very little for Celtic in the games he has played.

Ramon states that apart from some predatory instincts Albian has, there’s not been much else to his game – he also points out Ajeti would have been nowhere near the Celtic starting XI if we had any other fit striker over the past month.

Vega told SunSport: “I am very surprised that Ajeti was called up and I really can’t understand it.

“He actually only plays at Celtic because the manager has no other options due to many injuries. And he wasn’t really convincing.

“I see little dynamism, little speed in him – I only see a few predatory qualities, which he does too seldom.

“I don’t know what he stands for as a striker.

“I think Royal Antwerp’s Michael Frey, who is quick and also scores, would have been the better choice.”

Vega is a former Swiss international and is clearly passionate about his country. Ajeti got on the scoresheet for Celtic but was found lacking, especially in the last two domestic games where the bhoys dropped five points out of six.

There doesn’t appear to be a longterm future for the frontman at Celtic Park and it looks like a huge transfer misfire from the club.
