ALEX MCLEISH has revealed he is unsure if Celtic can meet Spurs’ asking price for Carter-Vickers.

Of course, the American defender arrived at Parkhead with an option to buy inserted into his contract, the fee Celtic agreed with the London club is disputed to be between £6M and £3M.

The loanee has attracted the interest of English Premier League clubs while playing for Celtic. The Scottish side will have the first say in the defender’s permanent future, but the player has the final say.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Scotland Boss remarked;

“It’s straight into the Champions League for the (Premiership) winner this year. It is absolutely like winning the lottery for countries that don’t have great revenue streams.

“Celtic are a massive club and they can generate money in other ways.

“You would think that Carter-Vickers would attract attention due to the vast improvement that he has made in the team.

“At first it was very difficult. It looked like as if he was just a trialist in the first few games.

“But he has become a very solid performer for them.

“I don’t know if Celtic will go to the kind of levels Spurs will expect to receive.”

I disagree with Alex. If Celtic want to sign the player, they will have the funds to sign the player if they’re going to. Especially with the prospect of Champions League funds and the Sydney Super Cup cash that Celtic will receive.

I also can’t entirely agree with the player looking out of place when he first joined. From the off, it was clear that he was a solid player; he even scored on his debut.
