It was never officially confirmed by the club, but former Ibrox midfielder Ciaran Dickson made his debut for the Celtic colts in the club’s 3-1 defeat against Morton – the midfielder even getting on the scoresheet.

On Saturday, the Hoops were knocked out of the Scottish Trust Trophy – a disappointing defeat against a tough side.

Dickson went straight into the starting XI for the game and was joined by first-team squad players Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhogide.

Dickson left the Ibrox club in the summer and was highly thought of in their setup. Celtic now look to take advantage of the situation and make a player out of Ciaran.

Since the beginning of the season, the Colts have had their ups and downs, but it’s all about giving these young players minutes on the field in a competitive environment.

Colt boss Tommy McIntyre will be disappointed to be knocked out of the competition, but he didn’t have some of his stand out players like Owen Moffat or Bosun Lawal to call upon.

The club only has permission to play this season in the Lowland league before things are reviewed next season. If it benefits the league, they could stick around beyond this term.
