CRAIG GORDON is hoping to catch his old club cold in the next few weeks as Hearts go head to head in the SPFL and League Cup.

The former Celtic invincible left the club last summer after both parties couldn’t agree on a new deal. Since then, Celtic have not had a solid number one and had Craig been signed to a new deal – he would have been the Celtic goalkeeper last season and probably going into this season.

He headed back to Hearts when his contract ran out and was part of the Jambos side that took Celtic to penalties back in December in an attempt to stop a quadruple treble.

The goalkeeper couldn’t keep Celtic out and the bhoys made history in an empty Hampden.

The pair now get set to meet at Tynecastle in the opening game of the SPFL season and Gordon is hoping to end an early blow to the Postecoglou era.

Speaking to SunSport, Gordon said:

“It’s probably good to get Celtic as early as possible, really. They are trying to rebuild currently and hopefully we can try and catch them a little bit cold early in the season.

“We know that’s going to be a really difficult task and we will need to play to the very best of our abilities.

“We got close and nearly beat them in last year’s Scottish Cup final, we played well and were unlucky not to win.

So we will give it our best shot on Saturday.

“I’m not taking too much notice of Celtic to be honest.

“There’s been more than enough games here to keep us busy.

“There’s been a lot to focus on me having the captaincy at Hearts, so I’ve not been looking too much other than trying to get ourselves ready for the start of the season.

“I’m sure they will sort themselves out. Celtic will always be able to sign new players because they have the money and the means to do that.
