Former Celtic managerial Eddie Howe has officially taken up the role as boss of English Premier League side Newcastle United.
Howe’s name has become familiar to all Celtic fans after last summer’s saga’, which ultimately saw him pull out of the chance to become the clubs next manager after months of deliberation.
Rumours at the time suggested that the ex Bournemouth man was not willing to relocate to Glasgow without all of his backroom staff, which looked to have killed the deal for Celtic.
It looked like a similar situation might also have taken place with the Newcastle job, after reports stated that there were some hitches in announcing it due to coaching staff at the weekend.
However, Howe was this evening announced as the new manager of Newcastle United.

Looking back on the whole situation, I think it is safe to say we are happy with where we find ourselves now under Ange Postecoglou.
Since coming to the club, the former Socceroos boss has taken us on leaps and bounds, and I’m not sure if Howe would have had the same impact, given how much was needed to be done.
We also wouldn’t have seen the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi join the club, who has gone on to become a fans favourite and critical player in the side.
Howe now faces the tricky task of saving the Magpies from the relegation battle in the English Premier League, which will seem very far away from having the chance to win trophies.
