One of the most widely supported clubs across the UK and Europe, Celtic has fans everywhere.
Among them are several notable names such as Martin Compston, Kevin Bridges, and Billy Connolly. Even WWE hero CM Punk sported some of the Hoops’ attire on Saturday night at the ‘Clash at the Castle’ event at the Hydro.
Now, a new celebrity name from the world of sport has emerged as a keen supporter of the Bhoys in golf champion Henrik Stenson.
The 2016 Open champion, who hails from Sweden, recently admitted that his love for the Bhoys stemmed from the legendary Henrik Larsson.
In his recent interview with Golf Australia, he couldn’t resist getting a slight dig in at Rangers, too.
“When I was really young I used to watch the English matches on TV in Sweden”, he said (Golf Australia via Football Scotland).
“I was a Liverpool fan because of the Swedish defender Glenn Hysen. But Henrik Larsson, one of our best-ever players, ended up at Celtic, so that got me interested in them. However, I might have just said I support them to p**s off a Rangers fan.”
Hansen will have seen many of his fellow countrymen represent the Premiership champions over the past few decades.
Along with Larsson, Johan Mjallby played a key role in the Seville team, with Mikael Lustig departing Celtic as a legend in 2019.
Carl Starfelt had a prosperous few years with the Bhoys, but the current sole Swede in the team, Gustaf Lagerbielke, has had a rough time since moving to Glasgow from Elfsborg.
His future, like many of his teammates, is in the air ahead of a busy summer.
