Former Rangers man Josh Windass has come to his senses and admitted that Celtic’s Glasgow derby ticket allocation was cut because the Hoops continually won at Ibrox.

When the Gers reformed as a new club, it took them two and a half years into their top-flight tenure to beat Celtic at Ibrox. In Brendan Rodgers’ first tenure as boss, The Bhoys were formidable at the home of their fiercest rivals.

Windass played in several clashes between the sides, yet never won any. Speaking on Pitchside’s Saturday livestream, he admitted that Celtic’s Glasgow derby ticket allocation dwindled because they continually triumphed in Govan.

All of the champions’ fanbase knows this, but to see someone from the other side of the city finally admit it is intriguing: “Now they’ve stopped the away crowd it’s not good”, he said.

“I think they did it because Celtic kept winning, genuinely. Rangers cut the allocation and then Celtic were like we’ll cut it as well.”

It remains to be seen when the away allocations at derbies issue will be solved. Celtic want more than 700/800 supporters at Ibrox, but the Gers are too scared to see them win and party on their patch. Even this weekend, they have refused entry to away fans for the Women’s Glasgow Derby, adding proof to the pudding.
