Former Scotland boss, Craig Brown has said that he believes Scotland’s man of the moment and Celtic attacking midfielder Ryan Christie is a better player than £20 million, Leicester City man James Maddison.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Brown was actually lucky enough to watch both players whilst he was an ambassador at Aberdeen. But he claims that he would rather have hoops star, Christie, in his side ahead of Englishman, Maddison.

“This is my own personal opinion, not that of the club nor Derek McInnes, but we had Ryan Christie on loan from Celtic and we had James Maddison on loan from Norwich City.

“I watched every game that Maddison played and every game that Christie played for Aberdeen, and my opinion was that Christie was the better player.

“And yet, Maddison went to Leicester City for £20 million and is now in the England squad.

“They have both developed since the obviously, but if you ask me which of those players I would rather have in my team, then I would rather have Christie than Maddison.”

Over the last year or so, Christie has been a key player for Neil Lennon’s side and has even shown his worth for the Scotland National Side with his goal to open the scoring the other night.

Since coming into the side, he has also scored some big goals for Celtic and put in some massive, game-winning performances.

We haven’t seen as much of that side of the 26-year old so far this season. So hopefully with this qualification and the chances of playing at Euro 2020 can give himself and the rest of the squad a boost to kick on and perform how we know they can.
