Reports this weekend suggest new Blackburn manager Owen Coyle is keen on bringing another Celt to Ewood park after acquiring Anthony Stokes earlier this summer.

Coyle, who is looking to build a promotion winning Blackburn side is ready to offer James Forrest a way out of Celtic. The midfielder who came on as a sub during the disappointing defeat to Lincoln has not performed for Celtic on any real consistent basis.

Injuries along with sub-standard performances has seen him fall out of favour at Parkhead with the previous manager and the fans. The midfielder who came through the Celtic ranks may be looking for a fresh break and if Rodgers doesn’t see him as a pivotal part of his squad then a deal could be done.

He could very well provide the extra incentive for Blackburn to part with their defender Shane Duffy who Celtic have been pursuing all summer. We understand there is nothing in place for this deal to go through and it’s more likely if the deals are done that they will be concluded separately.

If James Forrest is open to moving to the Championship and we know Shane Duffy would be more than happy to sign on at Parkhead then the two clubs may get their way.

With the games about to come thick and fast Rodgers is in the unenviable position of trying to assess and trim his squad while trying to bring quality in. Shane Duffy would certainly be welcomed by the Celtic support as many would welcome Forrest moving on.
