Celtic Women’s boss Fran Alonso is looking for his side to take last week’s performance against Hibernian at Paradise into this week’s Scottish Cup tie when they face Aberdeen.

The Ghirls blew away fourth place Hibs on what was a brilliant day at Celtic Park, defeating the Edinburgh side 4-0, with two goals either side of each half.

This weekend, they are back in cup action, looking to reach their second semi-final of the season when they travel to face the Dons on Sunday and Fran Alonso is keen to see a similar performance to last weeks.

“We fought as hard as we could possibly fight, and we definitely have to take this into the next game,” he said, speaking to the club website.

“That’s the way to go forward. There are still a lot of things that we have to fight for until the end of the season, and that’s the performance we want every single game.

“We want to go into the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, and we will try our very best to do that.”

The women’s side have already enjoyed some cup success this season, lifting the SWPL Cup earlier in the campaign.

But with their league hopes all but over for this year, Alonso and his side will very much be looking to go and add more silverware to the cabinet, and a win against Aberdeen could go a long way to doing so by reaching the semi-final stage.

Hopefully, we can see a similar level of performance to last week’s impressive victory at Parkhead. If so, the Ghirls will be well on their way to reaching the last four.
