CELTIC WOMEN are set to play Hearts on Sunday at 2 pm. Fran Alonso’s Ghirls are off the back of a Derby win in the cup, and their last league game was a defeat to Glasgow City.
The league looks out of reach for the side, but the cup double could still happen.
Alonso’s side is set to be without two key players for the encounter, with the manager providing an update on his squad. Speaking to Celtic TV, Fran confirmed that Charlie Wellings and Chloe Logan will miss the tie, and Logan is set to be out for a considerable amount of time.
Both are out. No Chloe. No Charlie. Charlie will hopefully be back soon.
She was fortunate against Glasgow City, we probably should have rested her, but we knew how important she was that game. She wasn’t anywhere near, not even 60%.
We won’t risk her anymore, and we will bring her back when she is 100% fit.
Chloe needs to meet a specialist this week, but it is going to be a long-term injury.
The women’s game is constantly evolving. This is just the second season that Celtic have had a professional girls team, and next season a huge step is being taken. The women’s league will now fall under the SPFL’s umbrella, along with the cup competitions.
Fran also confirmed to CeltsAreHere.com that the club wants to bring Celtic Women’s matches closer to Paradise. The side currently uses the Penny Cars Stadium; however, transport links are poor.
No one cares.. they could be trampolining themselves buck naked into chicken wire and still no one would care.
Perhaps Celtic FC, instead of wasting this money on the misnomer calling itself women’s football should establish a Curling Team.
A much more feminine pursuit using equipment that they are familiar with, if i would be so bold to add, it is also much more enjoyable than watching muscular woman with buzz cuts walloping balls into the air.
Although i’m sure a niche website could be online in a very short amount of time to cater for those who enjoy such activities. I’m not sure this is a route the club would care to travel.
