We always like to give our readers a full picture and as you know, we love a good rumour.

Over the years on this site, we’ve reported on rumours which have come to fruition and we’ve also reported on plenty which haven’t transpired. When we do post a rumour we always heavily caveat any comments or quotes with the fact it’s only hearsay.

In the spirit of this, we bring to you today’s peculiar news which comes from an unlikely source.

Former Scotland and Rangers boss, Alex McLeish is claiming Celtic directors were seen with Frank Lampard over the last couple of weeks.

Speaking to Football insider “I’m hearing whispers that Frank Lampard was seen with the Celtic directors. No matter what, the rumour mill will continue to thrive until an appointment is finally made.

“I think the fans would love a big name. There’s no doubt about it, they’ll be looking for that kind of personality.”

From what I’ve heard in the ground from Celtic fans is Frank isn’t someone who the majority want.

The Englishman is a blockbuster name in the EPL, but up here, it would only suit the media who would fashion a Chelsea vs Liverpool rivalry between Lampard and Gerrard, fighting it out in different colours.

Frank did get a rough ride at Chelsea with transfer bans and he never got the players in he wanted. However, he was handed the Chelsea job too early after a good showing at Derby, right now he should be looking to expand his skills elsewhere. We need a big picture manager.

Again, as I said at the top, this is just a rumour.
