It has been confirmed today that even though he passed up the opportunity to return to Celtic and make history, Fraser Forster will NOT be first choice and he might not even be second.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Southampton boss confirmed either Fraser Forster or Angus Gunn will be loaned out before the end of the window.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Alex McCarthy will remain the No1 Saints keeper despite Fraser Forster returning from his Celtic loan.

He added that Forster or Angus Gunn will be loaned out this season.
Celtic thought they had Fraser in the bag when he left Lennoxtown to thrash out his future and it was the goalkeeper himself who knocked back return. It was surprising to see Moi back through the footy but a goalkeeper who had helped start this great run didn’t fancy coming back to finish the job.
These things happen in football and Fraser is on big money at St Mary’s he has to be one of the best paid third choice goalkeepers in European football.
He was brilliant for Celtic last season which meant it was a blow when Fraser didn’t return. However, the club have brought in Vasilis Barkas to fill the void.
