Last summer, after such a successful loan spell at the club many had hoped that former goalkeeper Fraser Forster would return to the club in order to help us in our possible push for 10 in a row.

However, it unfortunately never played out like that with the Englishman opting to stay down south with English Premier League side Southampton and it appears that those were his only plans.

As quoted by Hampshire Live, speaking to BBC Radio Solent Forster revealed that it was never his plan to leave the club permanently after the loan spell. It was purely to go out and get some games to prove to people what he could do once again before making a return and pushing for the number one spot.

“It was just one of them. I never said I wanted to leave the club. It was good to go to Celtic and play games and show people what I could do.

“I came back in the summer and had always said that I wanted to be a part of the club. I’ve just had to be patient, to wait for my chance to come along and to get into the team.”

If some were hoping there was a possibility of the club going back in for Forster once again this summer it doesn’t appear that will be a move that will be considered by parties at Southampton, whether that be the club or Forster himself.

The 32-year old has had an incredibly successful time over his different spells at the club but it is now definitely time to move on.

The goalkeeping position has been a bit of a nightmare for the club this season, so it is something that we will likely be looking to solve in the summer, just not with Fraser Forster.
