Celtic will be in the market for a goalkeeper in the summer but the question on everyone’s lips is, will that man be Fraser Forster?

Currently on loan with the Scottish Champions, Fraser is enjoying a renaissance with the club who put him on the map the first time around.

The goalkeeper has come up big in some of the biggest games of this season and those the defenders in front of him an air of confidence.

Penalty saves and last gasp stretches to tip the ball over the bar, not to mention the cup final heroics.

The Southampton situation means Celtic would have to pay a fee for Fraser and he’d have to take a substantial wage cut to sign on a permanent deal.

John Kennedy has given us an update from the Celtic camp in what they’d be looking to do if given the option.

“If there is a deal to be done, the club can produce something and a deal between Southampton and Fraser is possible, then I’m pretty sure we would try to do it. If Fraser became available we would want him. He has been terrific and made big saves at the big moments. He has either got us a positive result or kept us in the game” Kennedy told the Sunday Post.

There certainly looks like there is a deal to be done. However, we shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet with Peter Lawwell having final say on any big money move for a player with no resale value. Signing Fraser would be a huge statement going into next season.
