Fraser Forster has been speaking again about waiting for his chance at Southampton even though there was a deal on the table at Celtic.

Fraser came back up the road last season and was a massive reason we managed to land the quadruple treble. The league cup win being monumental on the way to the amazing feat.

many thought the goalkeeper would stay with the club beyond the summer but as soon as he left Celtic he appeared to shut the door on a reunion on the off chance he got a game for Southampton.

Fraser admits returning to St Mary’s was all he wanted to do.

“It’s been a strange few years, it’s been a tough few years“ Fraser Told the Daily Echo.

“Obviously it’s a club I love a lot. I had some fantastic times here in the past and I’ve always been keen to come back and try and play here.

“That’s all I wanted to do in the summer. I wanted to come back and give it a go and everyone’s been fantastic with me since I’ve been back.

“But obviously the team has been doing well and Al’s been doing well so it’s just important I can help the team and the club in any way I can.

“I train hard, work hard, try and help the team any way I can when I’m not playing. Obviously the team has had a fantastic start to the season and it’s just one of them.

“You’ve got to do what you can to help the club whilst you’re here and just take it week by week really.

“You never know what’s going to happen – injuries happen and with COVID people can be ruled out, so you’ve just got to be ready for when you do play.”

Celtic have been struggling in the goalkeeping department but it has been made worse by the constant chopping and changing. The bhoys need a consistent man in goals and someone who can gain confidence over a period of time. Chopping and changing does nothing for a goalkeepers confidence.

Fraser got his chance in goals against Liverpool and helped his side to a famous 1-0 victory. He’s now set to be in goals for the club this weekend again.
