KELVIN WILSON has claimed Celtic should go for two familiar names in the summer transfer window to get their rebuild underway.

The former Celtic centre-back can’t believe the situation his old club are in this season and believes they need hungrier players going forward if they want to get their title back at the first time of asking next term.

Speaking about possible acquisitions to the Huddle podcast, Wilson believes Celtic should AGAIN go in for Fraser Forster and push the boat out to get the goalkeeper on a permanent deal.

The pair played together in the famous Barcelona win back in 2012 and Wilson is adamant Celtic could get at least five years out of the 32-year-old if they were to sign him.

Last summer, Neil Lennon was adamant they thought they had a deal for Fraser with Southampton which never materialised.

Kelvin pinpointed not signing Fraser last summer is a big reason why they have struggled this term.

“I think it’s one of the main things this season, not getting big Fraser.

“The calmness he gives you, him playing behind you, you’re confident in your goalkeeper.

“He’s the best keeper I played with, so I’m going to praise him to the moon and back.

“He’s got a year left on his contract.

“I’d push the boat out to get Fraser because he loves Glasgow.”

On the centre-back front, Kelvin claimed the club missed the boat on former Aberdeen player Scott McKenna. However, he believes the club should go back in for Ben Davies in the summer when Liverpool have a full-strength defence back.

“I think they missed the boat with Scott McKenna.

“I think Nottingham Forest got him for £3 million, £2.5 million.

“The other one, maybe a short fix for the season, would be the boy who went from Preston to Liverpool, Ben Davies.

“When Van Dijk’s back in the summer, Gomez is back, they’ve got their defenders back, he’s probably going to be loaned out next year.”

Davies signing in the summer after all the deadline day nonsense would be typical Celtic stuff.

However. Kelvin won’t know many fans believe Fraser has burnt his bridges and if he were to come in next season, people would be asking why he hadn’t did it a season earlier.

  1. If Fraser Forster has any sense he’ll stay well away from Celtic FC.

He didn’t fancy it last season so he can go find a rusty rake and an abandoned shed in a dilapidated Southampton allotment and f uc k himself up the ar$e with it.
