Celtic are currently looking elsewhere for a goalkeeper with seemingly no movement on the Fraser Forster deal. The bhoys have reportedly approached AEK Athens about goalkeeper Vassilis Barkas, there is no word yet how those talks are progressing.

Celtic Make €5m Front Page News in Greece

MailSport are reporting Southampton, who have been in financial difficulty this summer, are ready to sell some of their fringe players to lighten the wage bill and make room for some new faces. Interestingly, Fraser Forster’s name appears to be on the chopping block.

‘Saints will also look to unload several other players this summer, with defenders Wesley Hoedt and Jannik Vestergaard, goalkeeper Fraser Forster, midfielder Mario Lemina and striker Guido Carilla all set to be made available in the clear out.’

Celtic start their league campaign in less than two weeks. If there’s any hope of a Fraser Forster deal, he would have to change direction sooner rather than later. Could the news Celtic are courting other goalkeepers see the player’s reps get back in touch? Or is the door closed on the deal?

Most supporters want to see Fraser back at the club but are becoming increasingly frustrated it hasn’t happened sooner.
