French media outlet RMC have been gushing in their praise of the two stand out Celts on Thursday night.

Celtic beat Lille 3-2 in a frantic and exciting game at Celtic Park. It was the turn of the fringe players to show what they could do and they certainly made an impact.

David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro were the standouts so it’s no wonder they got the praise from the French publication.

The site also wrote Jullien was the first French player to score against Lille in the Europa Legaue.

“LOSC had never conceded a goal in the European competition by a French player.” RMC wrote about the Celtic game.

On David Turnbull: “If Celtic did not get a lot of chances, the Scottish midfielder was in all the right places!

“He took the corner for Jullien’s header, gave the ball to Frimpong who got the penalty and then scored the third goal himself. We can’t ask more of him.”

On Ismaila Soro: “Despite his enormous activity in recovery, the midfielder still had the lucidity and the legs to achieve excellent passes under opposing pressure. We also remember his tackle on the shot from Yazici whose left foot we know.”

It was a dead rubber but the invaluable information we got from this game was certainly that our fringe players can make a big impact.

We go into Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock with a renewed sense of vigour and hopefully we can turn that in to three points.

Turnbull and Soro have to be in line for a start.
