CELTIC FANS have made fresh calls for the club to try and make every effort in the summer to FINALLY sign Patrick Roberts on a permanent deal.

Brendan Rodgers told the fans last summer that it was Celtic’s preference to sign Paddy on a longterm deal but Man City wouldn’t budge and reluctantly let the player go back on-loan to Celtic Park.

Unfortunately, Roberts game time has been cut short due to injury and he’s only now getting back to full fitness as Celtic get prepared for their title run in.

Patrick has been asked on several occasions about what the future holds and he’s being unsurprisingly diplomatic about the whole situation.

The tricky winger has not ruled out a permanent return to Paradise and with City not likely to give him a place in their impressive and relentless squad it all comes down to money.

Any Premier League side who wants Paddy’s services will be at a huge financial advantage and if City don’t think Celtic can offer what they’re looking for then it will all fall apart very quickly.

With Lewis Morgan coming in and Ryan Christie set to be handed a one-year extension to his deal, that only adds to the likes of Musonda, Sinclair, McGregor and others. If Patrick was signed for a large fee then one of these players would surely suffer as a result.

It’s all about what’s best for the team and if Brendan wants Roberts then there’s no reason why Celtic can’t ask the question.

  1. Would be great to sign him permanently. Certainly not going to be a regular at an exceptional Manchester City and he appears to have gotten what Celtic is all about
