A new name has emerged in Brendan Rodgers’ quest to strengthen his Celtic squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

A report from Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio has named Venezia’s Tanner Tessmann as a midfielder the Hoops are after this summer.
The 22-year-old moved to Europe from Dallas three years ago. Tessmann has since made one shy of 100 appearances for Venezia across Serie A, B, and Italy’s domestic cups, scoring 10 goals and assisting five.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers responded to the transfer link after his side’s 4-0 thumping of DC United in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“It’s gossip season and right now it’s just a rumour”, he said (@lhenry019 on X).
“There’s a lot of rumours linked with the club.”
Celtic are said to be one of five teams chasing Tessmann. The USA international was recently on the verge of joining Inter but the Italian champions couldn’t reach an agreement with his agent.
Now, the Hoops, along with Parma, Como, Torino, and Brentford, are interested in his services.
Tessmann is due to represent his nation at the Olympics over the next few weeks so this one looks like it could drag on throughout the remainder of the window.
Rodgers refusing to rule out Celtic’s interest in the player is intriguing, but the Scottish champions would need to cough up a sizeable fee to bring Tessmann to Parkhead with his Transfermarkt value just shy of £6m.
