STUART ARMSTONG has reportedly gone under the knife to fix a long-standing hernia problem which has plagued the midfielder.

Stuart, who was out in Dubai with the rest of the squad undergone an operation in Germany and while the recovery time isn’t too long, it’s suspected he’ll be out until late February.

Celtic have already got Johnny Hayes out longterm with Tom Rogic hoping to get back to full fitness in the next 2-3 weeks. With games coming thick and fast Rodgers must shuffle his team around to make sure the team can cope.

Celtic will go up against Brechin on Saturday followed by ties against Thistle, Hearts and Hibs. Nir Bitton could find himself back in midfield in Armstrongs absence with Olivier Ntcham set to benefit with more game time also.

Armstrong was picked over Ntcham for Celtic’s last competitive game of 2017 against The Rangers where it ended in a stalemate.

Many Celtic fans wanted to see Ntcham given a run in the side and that may well happen out of necessity.

  1. Disappointed that he has picked up this injury which prevents his departure in the current window. He seems to pick and choose when he’s in the mood. Not a long term option.
