We reported earlier today that David Moyes’ odds to be the next Celtic boss had shortened but since then they’ve got even shorter and now in arguably the biggest twist in the Celtic managerial saga – Moyes is FAVOURITE for the Celtic job.

Like always, we would like to tell our readers that this isn’t an indication anything is fact or a forgone conclusion. Brendan Rodgers was nowhere near the top of the list three years ago when he got the Celtic job.

Betting on people shortens odds and the rumours started last night on social media about a potential Moyes appointment. This would have many scrambling to put on a bet when the Scotsman was an outside bet at 5/1. The odds are now significant shorter at 5/4 and Moyes overtakes Benitez as favourite. (Latest odds according to TSR)

David Moyes is not a popular appointment among Celtic fans and he would be an underwhelming choice. The former Manchester United manager would have to prove himself from day one in order to win over a sceptical support if it did happen. Working under those conditions could be detrimental.

Something certainly is brewing and the closer we get to the end of this week the more intense it’s likely to get.

  1. Whoever it is the board need to appoint him on Sunday & let him start clearing the decks & fine tuning the squad for the start of the UEFA CL qualifiers. Imo, the squad is very solid & needs 3 top signings along with Shved & we’ll be good to go for The 9. The sooner the manager is confirmed the better.

  2. Agree with pope1888. But I really do not fancy moyes. He is not an upgrade on Lennon. A pointless appointment. Keep Lennon as manager unless we are going to go big. Moyes is not big but no doubt will cost us a hefty salary

  3. THIS MOYES STORY I REALLY HOPE ISNT A RED HERRING IN THAT LENNONS SEEMS GOOD IN COMPARRISION! WE NEED A TOP FORWARD THINKING MANAGER OF AURA LIKE THE LAST ONE! GET IT SORTED PETER!! NEIL LENNON IS NOT OR SHOULDNT BE A CANDIDATE NO WAY THIS BE CRAZY AND SO DEFLATING IF EITHER THESE TWO ARE EVEN CONSIDERED!! AFTER RODGERS WE NEED SOMEONE OF HIS CALIBRE REGARDLESS HOW IE ENDED HE CHANGED THE PLAYERS BIG TIME NEITHER THESE TWO COME CLOSE!NOT REMOTELY!! WE ARE A MASSIVE ICONIC WORLD CLUB START ACTING LIKE ONE AND GET THE BEST MAN WE CAN!! HAIL HAIL

  4. David Moyes will loose us the 9 th league, Peter lawwell has promised him the job away before Rodgers left, and I believe there is a contract signed by both of them, and peter is trying to put a square peg in a round hole and is terrified breaking this contract we will be liable to pay out compensation himself if found out he has found it the fans don’t want him and that’s the result he fears most

  5. We all have our preferred candidate, but in the end, we don’t pick. All that I will say is that whoever gets the job, we as Celtic fans have to get totally behind him, if we do that, then its on to 9 in a row and counting.

  6. I’d rather have Deila back than have Moyes.

Like Phil said whomever gets the job should have the full backing of the support
