Brendan Rodgers has responded to speculation surrounding Alex Valle’s future at Celtic, insisting the left-back remains a part of the squad despite ongoing reports linking him with a move to Serie A side Como.

Valle, who joined the Hoops on loan from Barcelona in the summer, has impressed in his limited opportunities but has been heavily linked with a switch to Italy in recent weeks.

The speculation suggested his loan spell at Parkhead could be terminated prematurely, with reports claiming Como were keen to secure his services for the remainder of the season.

Barcelona have reportedly given the green light, but as CeltsAreHere revealed on Friday morning, Celtic have the final say in whether or not to end the loan deal early.

However, Rodgers has dismissed these rumours, making it clear that Valle is still a Celtic player and any potential departure would only happen under very specific circumstances.

There are lots of rumours and lots of moving parts, but at this very moment, Alex is here, and he’s preparing for the game tomorrow.

Valle’s future at Parkhead has been the subject of speculation amid Celtic’s apparent pursuit of former star Kieran Tierney. With Tierney edging closer to a return on a pre-contract agreement – and potentially a loan deal this month – it has been suggested Valle could find game time harder to come by.

  1. Ask Barca how much they want for Alex Valle, then sign him.
He is much better than Taylor, who is not committed to the club and is not satisfied with the conditions offered. Celtic have elevated him to being a millionaire and he is not satisfied????????
Also, I’m not sure of going back for Kieran T unless his playing time was shared. His injury problems will only be exacerbated with the continual demands placed on him. Whatever happens, we must keep Valle and attempt to buy him after his loan spell. Sharing the LB spot with Valle makes sense, whilst Taylor should be sold (if we can get anything for him).
