It’s fair to say that Georgios Samaras time at Celtic has been a mixed bag. When first joining the hoops every Celtic rejoiced “Finally a number 9 who is an aerial threat & good on the ball.” After his initial loan spell from Manchester City. The Greek god made the move permanent with his SPL winners medal in hand.
However the next two years were nothing special from the human. Glimpses of excellence weren’t enough to keep the ever demanding Celtic faithful happy, feeling frustrated by his severe inconsistency.
Enter a legend the one & only Neil Lennon. When Lennon took over many assumed that Georgios may be the first casualty of his new regime. However this was not the case infact Lennon manged something that has baffled pundits & scientist alike. He’s turned Samaras into a consistent threat.
Lennon famous line was not “he’s the kind of player that can get you sacked or win you trophies.” Well this gave Sammy something he never had before… confidence!
This confidence has seen Samaras deliver 2 SPL titles & 2 Scottish cups. Furthermore a place in the last 16 of the champions league. A competition in which he scored 5 goals in 6 away games.
All of this has not gone unnoticed by us hoops fans as Sammy claimed this years fans player of the year & a place in our hearts.
So whether we’re talking about his beard or football. One thing has remained the same he has always been humble & honoured to wear the hoops jersey through good times & bad. That truly Is the most important #SamarasFact
