DEDRYK BOYATA has spoken out for the first time about his Halloween howler when his mistake lead to Bayern Munich’s first goal at Celtic Park.

The defender misjudged the situation and let the ball bounce, letting Kingsley Coman in. Craig Gordon rushed off his line and the ball nestled into the back of the Celtic goal.

Speaking to the Scotsman about what happened Dedryk has been left frustrated and almost playing the scenario out in his head over and over.

“They were playing with a fake number nine. I could see him in front of me and he actually stopped and I thought ‘OK, I am alone’. And then I saw Coman who plays on the left and was just behind me and I was like ‘Oh, I thought I was alone’.

“As soon as the ball bounced everything just went quick and yeah from that point you are just thinking ‘Oh God, what is going on?’ So I feel very frustrated.

“We played well but we left with zero points. At that level every mistake costs. The manager has been telling us right from the beginning that one mistake can kill us. You have to stay focused the whole game.”

With a narrow 2-1 loss Celtic now look to the Europa League if they can negotiate a way past Anderlecht on Matchday 6. Before that, there’s a tough trip to Paris.

  1. Dedryk is a star in my eyes. Anyone can make a mistake.
He never hides and is turning into a fine defender.
    I love watching him play.

  2. Boyata has done well, playing alongside varying partners who are not really central defenders.I would like to mention Bir for some of his recent very good displays also.

  3. We are make mistakes – all credit to you for admitting it. Hopefully you will learn from it. Think you are playing tremendously well. Getting better every week. Hail Hail.
