Celtic winger Daizen Maeda has sent out an emotional Saturday night social media post in the wake of his injury.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed Daizen had injured a tendon in his hamstring and would be out for the St Mirren game. The extent of Maeda’s injury isn’t clear at this point but a hamstring injury can be very tricky, especially for someone as so explosive as Daizen.

The Japanese international watched on today as Celtic won 3-0 thanks to second half goals from countrymen Reo Hatate and Kyogo, before Irish international Adam Idah got the third.

After scoring at Ibrox last Sunday, the Celtic star is watching from the sidelines. On Saturday night, the player posted his frustration and disappointment that his son cannot see him play for Celtic and help them in their quest for the title.

This appears to be a big hint that Daizen is out for the rest of the season. He has been a fantastic player for the Hoops this term and to lose him at such a critical moment is a massive sucker punch.

We will find out more about the extent of Maeda’s injury over the next seven days. However, he will be happy his teammates got the win on Saturday, ticking off another game as they look to defend their title.
