As Celtic now come to the business end of the season, it looks as though the long waits for fans departing the ground are going to become even longer.

Although the club have some parking facilities for buses at either end of the Jock Stein and Lisbon Lions stand as well as behind the Emirates there is still a heavy amount of traffic which has to depart Parkhead on a matchday.

The club are in constant engagement with the authorities about this and have before suggested that traffic lights are switched off but that was knocked back as local residents and commuters had complained to the council.

Celtic Park

Cycle lanes on London Road have already caused extra congestion which will now be further impacted by road works outside the stadium that are set to be there for a while.

CeltsAreHere understands that the road works are set to remain in place at the stadium until June time which will mean even further long waits for fans trying to exit the stadium whether they are on a bus or in a car.

In the coming months, there will be large crowds which will descend upon Celtic Park as there is still one derby matched to be played as well as post-split fixtures.

  1. No doubt about it its a nightmare, bad planning, the cycle lanes which are a joke and the newish approach to Celtic park from the west the road is crumbling and pot holes by the dozen, and all thought up by our great glasgow counciln one wonders.

  2. I gave up my (our) season cards in 16-17 and long before then there was talk of extending the underground train lines, or a new train stop closer to the unused forge line at the Duke street end. Trolleybuses, Celtic Plc buying more land to park, that would include subsidised multistorey parking on the vacant land next to shettleston road behind the more shop precinct.

Since then, things have got a lot of ‘tits up’ but unless people can get to a match, by more than a omnibus, car, coach or train. The major down point is egress from the stadia.

And then getting rid of all pedestrian and wheeled traffic from the Parkhead area, during match days (and night’s of course) from Ggdc?

No matter what all the footfall brings to the local economies???
