New recruit Kyogo Furuhashi has revealed that former Barcelona star Andres Iniesta played his part in the 26-year completing his move to Glasgow.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Furuhashi was teammates with the Spanish midfielder at former club Vissel Kobe and revealed that Iniesta, who has spoken out about his admiration for the Hoops in the past, encouraged the Japanese international to make a move to Celtic.

The forward explained: “(He said) if I did what I was doing I should be getting good results so he encouraged me to come here.”

There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Furuhashi’s move. From clips of him in action back in his homeland, he is clearly a very talented player.

Although his debut didn’t go the way everyone would have liked, it was great to see him finally on the pitch after being forced to wait for the deal to go through due to Covid-19 restrictions and isolation protocols.

I am sure there is a lot more to come from Furuhashi under Ange Postecoglou, who knows him well from his time spent in Japan. So fingers crossed we get to that see that immediate impact right away.
