Former Celtic captain, Paul Lambert, has left his current managerial post at Ipswich after a season of discontent.

The Ipswich fans have been protesting for change and it was only a few weeks back some of their fans launched fireworks into the club’s training ground while Lambert and his team were in the building.

The club are 8th in League One and toiling when they were expecting to push for promotion to the Championship.

Lambert is now gone from his post and will

Now, inevitably, the former Celtic midfielder will be linked with the vacant Celtic job.

However, it was only last week when Lambert ruled himself out of holding the post in the future. The Champions League winner seemed irked by the way Neil Lennon was treated by some in the fan base throughout this season.

Lambert seems reluctant to put himself in the firing line even if the job was on the table. It would be very surprising if he was ever in the running.

  1. Being a player has a short shelf life, being a manager is the same. The days of the amalgamation of trainer/coach/manager are well gone. Some players don’t need much more than a ball or a target to find. Others struggle, some can be trained. But most pass under the radar showing a couple of years of brilliance. As a boss, your job is to manage that the team can remain constant and assist each other each time they play. And it’s Fuc&ing hard sometimes. When the whole team can’t be arsed. Or cannot keep up the pretence. Out of all the folks who come to cheer most teams, do think they can manage their team. But in reality, they can never even get a managers autograph. Never mind their job.
