During the transfer window one deal somewhere else can trigger another and this might just be the case with Norwich’s pursuit of Roma striker Mattia Destro.

The Canaries have been chasing the striker for some time and are confident of landing the Italian before the window closes.

Norwich Boss Alex Neil formerly of Hamilton has said publicly if they sign the striker from Italy that he will let either Van Wolfswinkel or Hooper out on loan for the season.

This seemingly has alerted the powers that be at Celtic Park where they are now keeping a close eye on the situation. Gary Hooper left Celtic in search of Premiership football and and England call-up. It has not worked out to plan for the Englishman and he may fancy another shot at Europe with Celtic.

During his first spell the player was a fan-favourite and regularly scored for the club.

While there has been no formal talks between the clubs there is definitely something there.

As Celtic get prepared for their crucial Champions League play-off there will likely be no movement until after the club knows its Euro fate.

Celtic have Leigh Griffiths, Scepovic and Ciftci as their main forwards so there is room for a talisman.

If Celtic are keen on getting the player back in would the Celtic fans welcome him back?
