Celtic fan sites and social media are abuzz with the talk of Gary Hooper and the possibility of the striker returning to Celtic Park.

Kris Commons got the ball rolling on this rumour when he mentioned he would love to have Gary Hooper back in Paradise.

In today’s papers we now have quotes from Neil Lennon saying he is still a big admirer of the Englishman but was quick to let everyone know that any thought of making a move for him was just that – a thought.

‘It would be nice to have him back but I think we’ll be a long way off that I’d imagine.’ said the Celtic boss.

Norwich took Hooper to Carrow Road for a fairly big outlay just last summer and although he has not set the world on alight while he has been at the Canaries it would still take an attractive offer to bring him back ‘home’.

The player would also have to swallow his pride if he were to come back, admitting defeat in the EPL. Gary Hooper is just not that type of player.

Even if Norwich drop down to the Championship I’m sure he will play a big hand in their promotion push next season and beyond.

While I wouldn’t rule out a return in the future, I believe Gary has a point to prove down south and he is more than capable of making it given the right parameters.

If we do sign a striker in the summer, it would be very surprising if it was him.
