GARY NEVILLE was full of praise for Celtic’s Josip Juranovic in Tuesday night’s ITV coverage of Argentina v Croatia.
The former right-back, considered one of his generation’s best, was astounded by the performance on show, claiming that the Celtic star epitomises the modern-day full-back.
Juranovic has been different class throughout the tournament, particularly after the group stages, receiving plaudits from almost everyone who has watched him.
Speaking on ITV, the pundit said:
“Absolutely brilliant. Juranovic is fantastic going forward, epitomises the modern day full-back – he’s bright, he’s lively, he’s not just serving the attack – he’s contributing to it.
“He’s been a real presence in this tournament on the right-hand side for Croatia.”
Juranovic and Croatia will play on Saturday to determine whether they place third or fourth in the tournament, so there’ll be no way he’s at Pittodrie for the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.
The other World Cup stars have been training this week ahead of Celtic’s return to competitive action.
Juranovic’s future is still up in the air, but it’s almost certain he’ll be leaving Celtic next month, with many clubs keeping a close eye on the defender’s World Cup performances. Interestingly, he could be an option for Gary’s former team, with the right-back linked with a move to Old Trafford. [The Sun]
