First-team coach and stand-in manager Gavin Strachan has opened up on the club’s current title chances admitting it will be ‘very, very difficult’.

As quoted by Sky Sports, speaking after yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Livingston Strachan gave these thoughts on the title race as Celtic found themselves 20 points behind in the title race before giving this honest assessment.

“It is very, very difficult. In a normal football season, I would say to you that it’s going to be very, very tough but
the way the world is just now you just never know

“Obviously the situation isn’t ideal but we still had more than enough that we could display better performance than we did.

“There was certainly a lack of match fitness of certain players which probably means they are not as sharp as what you would like them to be.

“But again the big frustration for me is that we didn’t impose our style of play on the game. There was a couple of decent performances but probably not so much standout ones.

As if it wasn’t a tough task already trying to close the gap in the race for the league title, we have dropped points in a further two games.

A lot of fans had already accepted the fact that this league was over before yesterday’s game. However, if some hadn’t this result may have pushed them to make this admission.

It’s out of our hands completely now and is relying on several favours from other sides against a side that has only been beaten once this season.

After the success we’ve had over the years it’s such a disappointment to find ourselves all but out the title race in the middle of January.
