IBROX BOSS Steven Gerrard has admitted he is envious of both Aberdeen and Celtic this weekend after the usual suspects tried to turn Celtic being in the cup final as some sort of negative for the Scottish Champions.

Headlines this week saying the Ibrox club can take the impetus in the league with Celtic having to contest a pesky Cup Final instead of being on league duty.

Gerrard’s men can go top with a win against Hearts but Celtic will of course have a game in hand.

When pushed about potentially going top of the a League Gerrard broke from the script and delivered a rather honest admission.

”To be honest, I’d rather be in the cup final but it is what it is. It will be a tough game.” Gerrard told RecordSport.

Aberdeen knocked the Glasgow side out of the competition to reach the final.

After getting the rub of the green and landing Hamden as their venue for the semi, Gerrard’s men crumbled in the heat of battle.

Celtic will not be overly bothered if the Ibrox club hit the top of the league this weekend.

Plenty of time to put that right.
