Steven Gerrard has confirmed at least one injury blow ahead of the Glasgow Derby on Sunday and its his handsomely paid striker who will miss out.

Jermaine Defoe will play no part in the SPFL game on Sunday at Ibrox after being ruled out with a calf injury.

There are more injury worries for the Ibrox club beyond that,

“Ryan Jack won’t make it. Defoe will be out for a couple of weeks with a calf problem. Tavernier didn’t train today with a foot problem but will give him until the last minute to make it.” Gerrard told RecordSport.

Celtic haven’t played since Saturday and will be fresh come Sunday. At this moment in time, The Rangers are scheduled to play Leverkusen on Thursday night.

There’s every chance Ibrox could be empty on Sunday for the game at this rate.

Celtic would move 16 points clear at the top of the table with a win on Sunday. Right now, Celtic have no fresh injuries and will go to Govan with a strong squad.
