STEVEN GERRARD has got very defensive over people pointing out his celebrations at Celtic Park might just have been a little over the top.

Many pundits have come out and stated Gerrard’s reaction after the game could have spurred Celtic on after the winter break.

They beat Celtic at Parkhead and we’re closing in on top spot when their return from the winter break seeing them drop seven points.

Gerrard did celebrate like they had one hand on the SPFL trophy but he’s quite entitled to do so if he sees fit.

The Ibrox boss defended himself and then made the admission he was tuned into the Aberdeen vs Celtic game last Sunday and attempted to say Neil Lennon and the players over celebrates the victory by doing what they do at the end of every game – go over to the fans.

“I’ll never apologise for being authentic. I am passionate after a win. I don’t think people on the outside understand the pressures you are under in that moment.” Gerrard told SunSport.

“I do ask myself if it was too much but then I think Celtic beat Aberdeen last weekend, and 11 players and Neil Lennon are jumping about and celebrating with the fans”

Celtic go and celebrate with their fans and thank them for their support after every game, home or away. There’s nothing over the top about that.

Stevie is feeling the heat and he’s right. Any man in his position with so much stress to deliver a title, you’re going to maybe celebrate that bit more with a momentous victory.
