GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS had made another confident statement after he was on the scoresheet twice against Motherwell before the Hoops lifted the trophy.

After a fantastic season, the hoops finished it with a match that summed AngeBall up. The 6-0 result came after a relentless performance from the players.

Giakoumakis was confident in his comments to CeltsAreHere on Friday, and he continued this live on BBC Sportsound after Celtic lifted the cup, saying;

“I was being honest. I wasn’t trying to pick a fight with anyone – it was what I believed. Could I say I told you so? Exactly! We won the title so it was the truth.”

Giakoumakis and his teammates will start their title defence on the last weekend in July when the league starts.

Giakoumakis was right, and he should enjoy his ‘told you so’ moment. He came under scrutiny for publicly voicing his beliefs but will breathe a sigh of relief that they haven’t come back to haunt him.

Giakoumakis has been terrific for the second half of last season. With the aim to stay fit for the full of next season, he will be hoping his form continues.
