GIORGOS GIAKOUAMKIS had a terrific second half of the season. After a tough start to life in Glasgow, the Greek striker was amongst the goals almost every game and became the league’s joint top goal scorer.

The striker revealed that he had a few options on the table last summer, and Celtic was one of them. After a chat with the Celtic boss, Giorgos was convinced he would join Celtic.

Celtic’s number 7 also praised the manager after he stuck by him throughout his injury, offering him words of advice.

In full, Giakouamkis said; [The Sun]

“In both those periods he was crucial.

“When I was about to sign with Celtic I had offers, but I needed to think about everything.

“You cannot deny this club — but you have think about every part when making your choice.

“We had a chat and straight away he convinced me that I had to come here.  He was right and so I did.

“When I was injured I was putting some pressure on myself because I had not yet proved myself here.

“He just said to me that I needed to stay calm, keep believing in myself and that whenever I came back I would be crucial for the team.”

Postecoglou is a great manager to have at Celtic football club. He sells the club at ease to incoming players. What’s not to like? Celtic play in front of 60,000 each week, have passionate fans, win trophies and will play in the Champions League group stages next season.

He’s also a class act for the player. Despite keeping himself away from the changing rooms, he seems to have a bond with every player and is always looking for them to improve. The players respect their manager and have full faith in his methods.
