The journey for Giakoumakīs to join Atlanta has been a long one, with reports linking the player to the club since early January. However, it is only now that both sides have been able to come to an agreement with J-League side Urawa Reds giving the player options.
The deal is a huge one for Atlanta United, with Giakoumakis set to become the club‘s highest–paid player.
He had an overall positive 18 months at Celtic. Initially, the frontman was injured, but he really did help bring home the SPFL title in the second half of last season. It is understood that Giakoumakīs is eager to join Atlanta and will be looking to hit the ground running in his new home.
