New Celtic striker Gorgios Giakoumakis is yet to make a start for the club but he certainly turned a few heads on Tuesday afternoon.

The Greek forward came on as a second half substitute and played very well, offering Celtic something very different up front.

The physicality of the striker helped keep the pressure off Celtic towards the end of the game and he could have got on the scoresheet.

The player took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to praise the amazing Celtic fans for their contributions during the game.

Kyogo is our number one striker, that’s not up for debate. However, in certain games and moments, Giakoumakis will come in very handy and give Celtic a physical edge up front on days where the opposition are more resolute in their defending.

The Celtic player will have plenty of time to bed in and get among the goals, it will be harder to score regularly coming off the bench, but the striker looks like a good piece of business in the short time we’ve watched him.

    • Much as I think that’s a great idea Malky, I can’t see it happening. Kyogo to start and then perhaps change the entire front line (Forrest, Giakoumakis and Johnston on for Jota, Kyogo and Ababda).

Abada especially looks as if he could do with a break. A good time to be getting our bhoys back from injury.
