Celtic striker Giorgio’s Giakoumakis is under medical review in the Greece camp after the player felt a problem in his leg.

The Hoops frontman had issues last season with injuries that saw him miss most of the first half of the season. In the second half of last term, GG was pivotal to taking home the SPFL title.

Celtic fans always hold their breath on international breaks, hoping all the Hoops players involved come back unscathed from their exploits.

The good news from Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos is the scan on the Celtic star’s leg hasn’t shown up anything serious, but the player is still under review.

The striker wasn’t in contention for Greece’s game on Saturday due to suspension. A further rest won’t do him any harm.

Giako is Celtic’s number two striker, behind Kyogo Furuhashi. They both have very contrasting skills and ability. We’ve not had a lot of time where both players have been fit at the same time. This term, it’s been so far, so good. Let’s hope this is a minor blip.
