Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has been posted missing from the Celtic starting line up against Sydney FC.

It is believed that the Greek striker travelled over to Australia with the rest of the team but did not feature at the open training session yesterday in the Allianz Stadium where fans were treated to the chance of getting to meet and watch their heroes up close.

The reason for Giakoumakis not being part of the side is yet to be made clear by the manager with some detail expected to follow as many thought that if he didn’t start the game, he’d be on the bench due to the lack of options Celtic have through the middle.

Giakoumakis came off the bench for the final 20 minutes against Ross County on Saturday as the Hoops extended their lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership to nine points.

However, it could make way for an opportunity at some point for Celtic B team star Rocco Vata who is joined by Scott Robertson and Bosun Lawal on the bench for the Scottish champions.

The 17-year old who can play on the wing may be given a chance having had an impressive start to the season in the Lowland League having scored eight goals in 14 appearances for the young Hoops side.

  1. Maybe all that travelling has took it out of the big Greek? …He’s took a couple of heavy challenges of late too, so maybe he’s recuperating
