Giorgos Giakoumakis arrived in Parkhead from VVV Venlo, a team just relegated from the top flight of Dutch football. Despite this, he still finished top scorer in the Eredivisie.

After a tough start in green and white, Giakoumakis has impressed since the resumption of Scottish football. The striker offers a different style up top, allowing Celtic to be more direct.

His presence can force defenders to foul the striker, especially when holding the ball. His height also causes problems for the opposition’s backline, with the threat of him meeting a ball that has been floated into the box.

Today, through the club’s Twitter, he was asked if the manager played a big part in his decision to switch from the Netherlands to Scotland.

Samaras was a great player for Celtic. Arriving from Manchester City, he created many memorable moments for the hoops. The goals against the old Rangers is iconic. It would be great to welcome him back to Paradise one day, even if it were just for the half-time windfall.

Barkas has had a tough time at Celtic, but he will see how great a club he is at. Things have simply not worked for the Greek shot-stopper, and his time at Celtic looks up. After several January deals fell through, it may be summer before the Greek departs.
