It is being reported that Celtic will not accept the offer made by Atlanta for Giorgos Giakoumakis unless they change their offer [Daily Record].
The MLS club had initially offered the Scottish champions a deal in which they would take the Greek international on loan first with an option to buy guaranteed.
Reports have stated that the 28-year-old wishes to move to the US but the Hoops are prepared to keep him if Atlanta cannot offer an alternative option.
At the beginning of this transfer sage, it was true to say that Celtic were in the driving seat as the forward is contracted to the club until 2026.

January is always a difficult window and as long as the player was willing to stay, Celtic may just keep him until the summer months when there could be more interest.
J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds appeared to be the favourites to sign the former VVV-Venlo star but it would appear that Giakoumakis would rather the move to the MLS.
Celtic have already recruited what is likely to be Giakoumakis’ replacement in the form of 21-year-old South Korean striker Hyeongyu Oh.
His game time was already limited before the signing of Oh and if he was to hang off till the summer his game time would likely be even less.
