Celtic’s chances of signing Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis have reportedly taken a major hit following their Champions League exit to LASK.
Italian outlet Sportal report that the Hoops had been tracking the Lithuanian international and that the asking price looked right for a deal to be completed in the final days of the transfer window.
The report also claims Celtic had already submitted an official offer worth €7.5 million for Gineitis, which was rejected by Torino.

As recently as last week, CeltsAreHere understood strong groundwork had been done behind the scenes, but no formal bid had been submitted to Torino.
The Hoops had made contact with the player’s camp, while Gineitis was open to a move to Glasgow and personal terms were not expected to be an issue if Celtic decided to make an offer.
CeltsAreHere also understood a deal could potentially be done for around £6 million plus significant add-ons, rather than the €15 million valuation which had been mentioned in Italy.
The latest report claims Celtic were prepared to increase their offer to around €10 million before the Champions League exit, although there remains no indication from our side that a formal bid had been made.
Torino are now said to be willing to consider an offer of at least €10 million, with Gineitis not viewed as unsellable.
Gineitis would reportedly consider a move if the right offer arrives, with his future still open heading into the final days of the window.
Celtic had put significant work into the deal before the defeat to LASK, but the latest reporting suggest the loss of potential Champions League revenue has changed the picture.
The Hoops still desperately need midfielders before the deadline, although Gineitis now appears less likely to be the player Celtic move for unless the situation changes again.
