It’s being claimed the Glasow Derby is at real risk of being called off unless assurances of no mass gatherings will take place for or after the event.
After the weekend’s ugly scenes where rival fans broke strict lockdown rules to hold the town hostage with their loutish and at some points, disgusting behaviour, the Government have threatened to pull the plug on the fixture.
Police Scotland are also keen to get these assurances after they looked completely and utterly idiotic as they gave the unruly crowed an escort to George square.
A source told SunSport: “There needs to be assurances that there will be no repeats of what happened at the weekend — but everyone knows this is going to be a challenge.
“The responsibility falls on the clubs, but will fans really listen to them?
“There have already been indications some supporters plan to gather at Parkhead on March 21.
“What officers had to deal with at the weekend was bad enough, without adding in rivalry and the potential for violence.
“Calling the game off is a very real possibility.”
Celtic are supposed to host the game a week on Sunday but it’s all up in the air for now.
Calling the game off can’t be seen as a long term solution because there’s still another game to be played in Govan between the two sides and depending on how the chips fall in the Scottish Cup, there could be three meetings between now and May.
The Police and the Government have to show consequences for people who decide to willingly take part in large gatherings despite the pandemic.

I dont think they can call off 1 without the other, it’s got to be both or nothing for me.
Maybe she should use her red card and end the season
Why don’t they use a water cannon to clear people, common sense and if the Police Scotland don’t have one surely they can borrow one.
Football without the fans is boring only SPFL and SFA who don’t want to give the sponsors their cash back. Every league in Europe is suffering even the champions league is given unusual results
