Ange Postecoglu has delivered an update on Tom Rogic after it was confirmed the injury sustained during the Ross County game has kept him out of the Australia squad.

Tom had to come off during the first half of the 4-0 victory against the bottom half SPFL side and now faces a sweat to be fit for the Glasgow Derby at the beginning of April.

Ange took part in a long form interview with Optus sport this week and gave an update on Tom’s situation.

“We’ll see how it all transpires,”

“Unfortunately he couldn’t go back and represent his country which was disappointing for him. He’s still sore. “He probably won’t train this week and we’ll just assess how he goes in the week leading up to the next game. But suffice to say he was pretty sore after it. He probably could’ve been a helluva lot worse, but at the same time it’s enough to keep him out for the medium-term.”

Celtic could go six points clear of their rivals with a win at Ibrox but Tom might not get the opportunity to help the team on the day.

Thankfully, Matt O’Riley’s presence in the squad means any long term injury to Tom isn’t half as detrimental to the team as it would’ve been earlier this season.

Matt is away on international duty with Denmark at the moment, fingers crossed he can stay fit.

Celtic find themselves in a remarkable position in the league after the upheaval this season. The bhoys are three points ahead with seven games remaining.

Ange Postecoglou has to be credited with building a whole new team under very trying circumstances.

Tom Rogic has been back to his best this season under Ange. Hopefully the Australian can have a say between now and the end of the campaign.
