Daizen Maeda delivered a message that will be ringing around Glasgow for days as he joined in the title-winning celebrations with thousands of Celtic supporters outside Celtic Park on Saturday night.

The Japanese forward, who has been electric in the run-in and a key part of Brendan Rodgers’ title-winning side, was among the Celtic squad welcomed back to Paradise by fans after they sealed their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title with a 5-0 demolition of Dundee United at Tannadice.
Following the full-time whistle, supporters heeded the call from the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic to gather at the stadium and welcome home the champions. What followed was a night of celebrating.
Maeda, clearly loving every minute of the celebrations, was captured on video singing along to his own chant – belted out by the fans to the tune of ‘Tequila’. But it was his simple, emphatic message that really struck a chord with the support.
Taking the microphone, Maeda faced the sea of green and white outside the stadium and declared: “Glasgow is green.”

The moment, quickly shared across social media, was met with roars of approval from the Celtic fans.
He’s been in red-hot form this season and is currently locked in Celtic contract talks ahead of the summer window.
He can say Japan is blue (as he plays fur them).
Next time ask his ‘interpreter fur tha ned’ what ‘Glasgow is Green’ in Japanese.
