With a sold-out Celtic Park setting the stage for tonight and a massive 4-2 advantage in the Europa League third qualifying round against Jablonec everything was pointing to a special night in Glasgow.

Celtic fans have been deprived of packing out Celtic Park for almost 18 months. It is impossible to gauge how much of an effect that has had on the team but the early indicators are that it was detrimental.

There were a lot more factors to the team’s demise last season than just a lack of fans but everyone connected with the club will be hoping the performance they witnessed at the weekend against Dundee is a sign of things to come.

As we all know from last season, football scripts don’t always go to plan. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and forget that a game of football still needs to be won and performance levels need to be kept to the level we witnessed at the weekend. If I could bet on what Callum McGregor said in his post-match huddle on Saturday I would say it was along the lines of keeping the same level of performance game in game out with the Dundee game been set as the current marker.

The Celtic manager named a pretty unchanged side tonight apart from the absence of Liel Abada.

Celtic could be two or three goals up going into the break but this brilliant David Turnbull gives the Celts a 1-0 lead and 5-2 on aggregate.
